Belonging, Being and Becoming; The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia is at the heart of our Lifelong Learning Centre’s approach to early childhood education. We share its aim, to extend and enrich children’s learning from birth to five years, and through the transition to school .

The Framework’s emphasis is on play-based learning and aims to achieve five learning outcomes:

Children have a strong sense of identity
Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
Children are effective communicators
Children are connected with & contribute to their world
Children are confident and involved learners

Our educators use talking, singing and play to help your child to learn about language: talking with them, te lling them stories and reading with them, playing fun word games and singing helps build connections in their brain which, in turn, helps them to understand and speak their language.

We encourage drawing and making marks, as this leads to writing: using crayons and pencils, making marks in the mud or sand, or drawing on concrete with chalk, and playing with magnetic letters and word games helps your child to express their feelings, thoughts and experiences and encourages early writing.

We use everyday mathematical ideas, such a counting, measuring, sorting, patterns, numbers, shapes, size and position to support your child’s understanding and build confidence and capability with problem solving.

Lifelong learning helps your child to develop a healthy brain

Your child’s brain is the only organ that is not fully formed at birth. During the first three years, trillions of connections between brain cells are being made. Your child’s relationships and experiences during these years greatly influence how their brain grows.

Positive learning experiences help your child’s brain to develop in healthy ways.

Your child’s early experiences and relationships will influence their long-term outcomes. This includes the development of executive functioning (mental skills that help you get things done,) and the capacity to experience, regulate and express emotion, to form close secure and satisfying relationships, and to explore, discover and learn.

Your child’s early years of learning impacts their readiness for life, and their life capacity.

As a parent, we know you want to give your child the best possible start in life. For this reason, choosing the right centre can be downright difficult because it’s so important.

First and foremost, you want a centre that ‘feels right’. One that’s bright, happy and safe – somewhere you know your child will be loved, nurtured and cared for. In order to achieve that ‘best start’ you are hoping for, your centre also needs educators who are focused on lifelong learning and helping your child to grow and develop into the best little person they can be.

Our Lifelong Learning Centres recognise that a child’s emotional, social and physical development has a direct impact on the adult they will become. Everything we do at our centres is focused upon maximising the future wellbeing of your child’s development.
